SSLLLLooooooooww

Can someone help me with a blog issue I am having? My blog is loading so slow. The headline and sidebar show up but the content takes a while to load. Anyone know how to fix this issue?

My Friday Meme

A Friday meme for you all :)...enjoy.

1) In five words, explain what ended your last friendship? We were completely different/wrong.
2) How was your prom night? Amazing! I went with my best friend and we had a great night, dancing at prom and heading to his best friend’s house for an after prom party. I got completely smashed with my date, with me and him passing out together in bed (no hanky panky though). The next morning we went to breakfast with 30 of my closest friends. I have some great pics cause my date is like 5 to 6 inches shorter than me.
3) Do you have any famous relatives? Not so far, but I know my sister will be famous one day hopefully on ESPN.
4) Have you taken out loans to pay for college? Nope, I got a full-ride volleyball scholarship to San Jose State University. After two years, I left to go back home throwing away my scholarship. Fortunately, I was able to get an academic scholarship and finished at UNLV in Vegas baby!
5) What did you receive last in the mail? A giant box from Victoria’s Secret full of random clothes and things I ordered.
6) What beverages have you drank today? Water. I am trying to drink two big things of water a day. So far, it is really hard.
7) Do you leave nasty messages on people’s answering machines? Why bother calling someone I wouldn’t want to talk to?
8 ) What’s the most painful surgical procedure you’ve had done? Getting my wisdom teeth removed. I got sick from the pills and ripped all my stiches out from throwing up and had to go back in and get more stiches without going back under. O.U.C.H.
9) What is out your back door? My tomato plants and the ocean…..what a life huh?
10) Do you usually go out on the weekends? When we are actually here, we go to the beach, grab drinks with friends, go to Del Mar and watch horse racing, attend wine tastings, go dancing, etc.
11) Do you like what the ocean does to your hair? Not really. It usually makes it greasy and flat, which I hate. I wish I could have beautiful ocean hair like some girls.
12) Have you ever visited a planetarium or do you even know what one is? No, but it sounds like fun.
13) What is your favorite flavor of pudding? Chocalte swirl snack packs. Yum!
14) Describe your keychain: Dodger key for home, car keys, work key and rainbow flip flop keychain I got from the guy that invented Rainbow flip flops.
15) Where do you keep your change? In this giant Chargers bottle at our place.
16) When was the last time you got up and spoke in front of a large crowd? Last night when I asked a question during a Q&A at an event.
17) What kind of winter coat do you have? Several, but my favorite is this winter white coat that is too cute for words.
18) What was the weather like on your graduation day? Hot, Vegas weather but it was a great, fun and memorable day.
19) Do you sleep with the door to your bedroom open or closed? It depends on if me or Whitey actually close the door.
20) Is there anything purple within 20 feet of you? Post it notes and my plant vase.
21) What is the strangest thing you’ve put in the microwave? Food?
22) Can you speak any Japanese? Nope
23) Do you look good in the color yellow? Hmmm… I’m not sure if I own a single thing in yellow. Me neither J
24) Do you spit or smoke? Neither
25) What is your favorite color(s)? Black and red
26) Ever played an instrument? Only the recorder in 5th grade and no Jill, I was not half as successful as you at it.
27) Do you believe in Bigfoot, or Sasquatch? Nope
28) Ever been to a palm reader? Yes, and I didn’t really like the experience
29) Did they tell you the truth about your future? Not sure. I can’t remember really cause I didn’t really want to listen. I was worried the whole time she would tell me something bad.
30) What are you thinking about at this very moment? How excited I am to visit NYC!!!
31) Have you ever received a black eye? Yes, after being hit in the face by a girl at Hawaii University during college.
32) What is your biggest current disappointment? I thought I would be more successful and actually think I am becoming pretty lazy and not really showcasing my talents and living my life. I think I am in a slight slump.

Viva Las Veggggasss, so so tired!

We went to Vegas this weekend for my dad’s and brother’s birthday (it was the weekend between both of them) and to see my grandparents. I was stoked about this trip since I was a little homesick. I got out of work an hour early to get a head start on the road trip, jumped in the car with Whitey and cranked up the tunes. We made it there in four hours easily, with only a slight amount of traffic through the IE and I was able to organize my iTunes on my new laptop on the way there. I still can’t figure out how to get internet through my WiFi but hopefully that is only a small glitch for the moment and will be resolved shortly.

We arrived to my little brother and his girlfriend watching hilarious movies on the couch and my sister rushing home from the store to see us. Surprise……no grandparents, no dad. I call to find out where they are and my dad responds with slot machines in the background and my grandparents yelling at a machine. Hanging at The Rampart, a local hotel that my dad and grandparents, who are from Chicago, seem to visit all too frequently. Grandparents aren’t supposed to like sitting in smoky hotels with loud slot machines screaming in their ear everyday while on vacation. My sister walks in, says hi, and I politely ask her if she made the reservations she was supposed to make at Chicago Joes for the birthday dinners the next night. She says no, I ask why and she chucks a half full water bottle at my head. No Joke. What the f*&k.

This was the start of what came to be a very interesting and perpetually disturbing weekend in Vegas. After the water bottle incident, I walked upstairs a while later, tried to talk to my sister and apologize for jumping on her but tried to explain the fact that not making reservations at a very busy restaurant when she said she would is slightly irresponsible. She didn’t really comprehend but whatever. She is a little selfish at times. We all go downstairs to chill on the couch once my dad and grandparents return. We are having quite hilarious family time when my sister mentions she needs alcohol to do this family crap, then perceives to get in a massive fight with my father in front of the entire family over an economic stimulus check issue. Afterwards we head to the bar where my sister complains about my dad, complains she can’t move in with me when she moves to California since I live with Whitey, and complains about her entire situation and how bad it is. Get this….my sister’s situation is so bad cause she lives with my dad still at home, he pays for her college and all her books, and pretty much supplies all her food and toiletries. Rough life huh?

My sister gets mad at me for not understanding her side, doesn’t talk to me the next day while having girl time with my mom and is constantly complaining and talking shit to her friends over the phone. My mom is watching this whole situation asking why my sister is ignoring me while we are getting our nails done, and can’t believe I only came into town this short weekend and we are already down each other’s throats. This doesn’t’ bode well for her moving by me. The rest of the weekend was a blast. We went to Chicago Joes for my little brother and father’s birthday dinner (my sister didn’t show up). Whitey and I then headed to TOWN SQUARE with my little brother and his girlfriend for some shopping and to see the lifestyle center. It is gorgeous and huge! You should definitely check it out if you go to Vegas. We went to meet my sister and all her friends (we planned this before the fight and I felt obligated to go) at Yardhouse at the center and headed upstairs to BLUE MARTINI for a night of dancing, drinking and overall fun. Oh, and I bought a new cute hat to sport to the club. Ended up being a blast and I even got buzzed enough to split my new Rock n’ Republic jeans while trying to get up on the dance floor stage. Whitey laughed so hard he was crying. I laughed until I sobered up the next day and realized how much those jeans cost and they were new! Sunday consisted of golfing with Whitey and my little brother. I am getting better and even beat my brother on this 9-hole, par three course. Yes, finished with a bang. What a memorable weekend.

Oh, and by the way, my sister called me to apologize. Too little too late since we left. It could have been a fun weekend of us having a blast and partying together. That girl needs to quit drinking and start laughing more.

Motivation, where did you go?

Ever feel that lack of motivation and inspiration in the morning and it carries through a whole day at work. This has been my entire day today. I have no drive to work, no inspiration to be creative and no freaking work ethic. It is gone. Dunzo. And I am supposed to be inspiring people to be creative for my clients. The tough thing about PR. I am really freaking good at what I do but my current firm barely allows me to think outside of the box since all of my clients are business to business accounts. Where the hell do you find inspiration? I really need some ideas.

Whitey and I have been in a little bit of a career slump and have been thinking about starting our own venture. Problem is we have no idea where to start, what to do, or which direction to go in. We have a few ideas of things we like, but we are not the entrepreneurial types in foreseeing this great idea that would warrant us jobs that we love and enjoy. I am interested in writing a book one day, but barely have time to keep up with this blog to do that. There are many ingenious ideas out there. Why can’t we think of just one.

I feel in love with this great little site I found today. It is called CHIC BOULEVARD. The girls came up with a fantastic idea and I am still wondering how they make a living off of this. What a great site!

Last night I got home and received a call from an old friend I played volleyball with in college. She was heading to a bar in Newport with another one of my old teammates and wanted me to meet up. Whitey wanted to go to so we grabbed our tandem bike, a yellow bike with black cab checkers made out of an old Schwinn tandem bike frame. It is the greatest thing ever. We rode down toe BLACKIES, a hole in the wall joint on the beach in Newport, and got drunk and stupid with my old teammates. We had a blast and it was totally random we had so much fun and stayed out way past our bedtimes on a Tuesday night. Maybe this is why I have absolutely not one iota of motivation.

Dressin To the Nines....

I decided yesterday that I am really going to start putting my fashion foot forward and trying to dress sophisticated and pulled together on a regular basis. I put on these great navy slacks, this tight button up top from Victoria’s Secret that is perfect for the office but shows off a little shoulder and my best black shiny pumps and worked it. I was able to get a line jump at lunch, a total plus for the trouble of pulling together a hot outfit while trying to still make it to work on time. I think I really look professional and powerful when I dress to the nines. I am already intimidating at five foot ten inches (over six feet in heels) so my height gives me this instant model feel. I have long arms and legs, although I could afford to lose five pounds in my stomach region. I am not fat, but I am not completely model skinny either. The real pay-off was when I got home and Whitey did a double take outside our house. I felt like Anne Hathaway in Devil Wears Prada when her boyfriend says they better get out of here cause his girlfriend might see. I felt sexy.

This new adventure in dressing better and more professional is a direct result of my watching too many girly movies lately. After watching six episodes of sex in the city while I worked out and Devil Wears Prada and Pretty Women over the weekend, I decided I wanted to start dressing better. I have a little money to spend on my wardrobe each month thanks to my ass getting kicked in work and me asking for another raise so I deserve it. And it feels good. I finally feel like I have clothes to be proud of. And my heels collection is looking mighty nice. Gosh, I love shoes.

Our 4th turned out to be quite the adventure, although a few tears were seen. My little brother got into an altercation on the beach with one of our outrageous marine friends and stormed off into the night. Then later in the evening, he took the stupid fight out on me. I was not letting him ruin my fav holiday though. Whitey and I tandem biked to the Back Bay to watch four different sets of fireworks light up the OC sky. What a day! I wish the weekend lasted forever…

Happy Fourth of July!

Whitey and I went through some shit this week. It wasn’t really that bad but it has still been wearing on me and it hit the fan two nights ago. I would have blogged about it yesterday but work has been riding me lately. Great news though….I get my new laptop today! It is waiting at home for me patiently in its new little box. I am stoked!

I laugh since normally, as most things go, Whitey and I seem to do everything backwards. A couple of examples are our age difference and personalities. We are completely different. Whitey is 14 years older than me. He is hot though and you would probably guess he is 30 so it never bugs me. He is way, way calm and relaxed about life, where I am a high-stung Virgo ready to overanalyze any situation put forth. The thing lately is his amount of sex-drive. I am ready to go at least five days a week or more. Him, two would be sufficient. This is totally ass-backward. Normally, the guy is the one with the high sex drive while the girl gets to try to keep up with him and make him happy. Women are normally putting all they got into work and too tired to do it every night. (Jill, my girl, you know what I am talking about). For some reason, I wasn’t designed this way. I am always on the lookout for moments to have a sec spree. Early getting ready for a dinner party? Let’s have a quickie! This began posing a problem in our relationship when Whitey pointed out he feels pressured by my sex drive sometimes. He pointed out his age (grrrr…) and how he can’t keep up with me. I think he was more frustrated by the fact that he honestly doesn’t have the sex drive I do and it is ass-backwards. We talked things though and have had to come to a compromise in our sex life. I have to be a little more willing to have less frequent but better quality sex, and he has to put in the effort when we actually do it three times a week or so. Not like he wasn’t putting in the effort, but now that it is going to be less frequent, he said he will make them worth it. I am fine with this. More sleep, more reading, but I worry about that little sexual creature stuck inside me. No, I would never cheat on Whitey, but I worry that my vibrator is going to be getting a lot more love in the future.

My favorite holiday is right around the corner. I love, love, love the 4th of July! I love the weather, the FIREWORKS, friends, bar-b-ques, the beach and just the whole happiness of the day. Everyone is always happy on the 4th of July. I can’t wait. We have made no plans for the weekend except to see where the day takes us. And we are a mighty adventurous crew. This could get interesting….
